Norwich City defender Andrew Omobamidele is set to stand trial over a motoring offence involving a water bottle.
The 20-year-old Canaries star faces a charge of not being in proper control of a vehicle over an incident when he was driving a Range Rover Sport on the B1172 at Hethersett.
He is accused of lifting a large water bottle as he tried to steer his car.
The player did not appear in person at a hearing before Norwich Magistrates Court on May 31 but his solicitor entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Prosecutors claim as Omobamidele approached a junction he lifted a large water bottle "steering the vehicle with only one hand on the steering wheel".
The Republic of Ireland international had been issued with a driving course and conditional offer of a fixed penalty as a result of the incident, which happened on May 5 last year.
But the course was not completed and neither the penalty payment nor driving licence were received within the time constraints.
Magistrates set a date for him to stand trial at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court on February 29.
