A new pride event is coming to mid Norfolk.
Called Dereham Does Pride, the celebration will take place on Saturday, July 1 at the King’s Head Hotel in Norwich Street, Dereham, and will feature performers including drag queens, a rapper and acrobats.
Ben Greentree, one of about eight people organising the event, said it was time the town had an event to celebrate pride.
Mr Greentree said: “There has been a couple of similar events in Norwich, King’s Lynn and Attlebrough, which have had a lot of success. They have generated a lot of interest and helped businesses around the towns.
“It’s not about being in people’s faces, it’s about bringing the town together. We thought it was time Dereham had something similar.”
Mr Greentree said the festivities would take place in the pub’s outdoor areas and function rooms.
There are also plans for a 'rainbow trail' around businesses in the town.
Dereham Does Pride will run from 11am to 7pm, find the event page on Facebook for more details.
