Admissions have been paused at a care home following a damning inspection from a health watchdog.

The All Hallows Care Home in Bungay had been rated good in its previous CQC inspection in May 2019.

But the new report, published on March 31, concludes that the home "requires improvement."

In the CQC's report, under the "well led" section, the report alludes to how the service has dropped from its 2019 inspection.

It reads: "At our last inspection we rated this key question good. At this inspection, the rating has changed to inadequate.

"This meant there were widespread and significant shortfalls in service leadership.

"Leaders and the culture they created did not assure the delivery of high-quality care."

The care home is managed by Norse Group and is one in 20 the company oversees.

In 2019 the future of the care home was in doubt, sparking mass protests with campaigners taking to the streets of Bungay for it to be saved.

Now after the latest report, the care home's future has been propelled into question again with the care home saying it has paused admissions and working hard to improve things.

At the time of the inspection, the home which has space for up to 50 residents, had 29 people living at All Hallows.

But after the scathing CQC report, Norse Group have made the decision to pause admissions to focus on improving standards.

A Norse spokesman said: "Additional resources and support from across our organisation have been brought in to oversee the improvements at All Hallows – during which new admissions have been temporarily paused, and our care staff are working incredibly hard to ensure we embed and sustain a high standard of care.

"We will continue to work with and support our employees to make the required changes, as well as to support our residents and their families and discuss any concerns they may have.”
