A mobile food bus that supports rural communities has been repaired and is now back on the road.

Tristan Ashby, executive member for health and communities at Breckland Council, confirmed that the council's original mobile food store, which first appeared last May, was finally back on the road after an array of repairs.

Mr Ashby told of the return of the original bus at the council’s annual general meeting on May 18, saying: “I was informed today that the food bus that's been off the road due to vehicle maintenance requirements is now back on the road, after being repaired, and was back on the roads as of last Tuesday (May 16).”

An interim replacement vehicle was put in place to continue its services.

The van had an issue with its air suspension system, and repairs needed to be carried out by Mercedes engineers - as well as welding required over both wheel arches.

The van, funded by Breckland Council and Norfolk Community Foundation and run by local charity Kickstart Norfolk, then needed an MOT.
