It's all kicking off in Trowse, as accusations emerge of Norfolk County Council "declaring war on Norwich City fans".

Folk living in the village on the City's outskirts have hit out at plans to introduce new parking restrictions, saying it has been done specifically to thwart Canaries fans.

Pablo Dimoglou and Angela Forster, who live in Trowse, have slammed plans to restrict parking before 9pm on weekdays as it will impact evening matches at Carrow Road.

The pair have started a campaign to stop the proposals for Hudson Avenue, Devon Way and Kirby Road, which are currently free of any parking restrictions.

They say Canaries fans bring much-needed business to the village using its two pubs and the River Green restaurant.

Ms Forster and Mr Dimoglou say plans are disproportionate as there are only a handful of evening matches each season, yet members of village clubs will also be affected.

Mr Dimoglou said: "We were shocked the scheme seems to purposely discriminate against and disadvantage Norwich City fans with no regard to whether their parking causes a problem.”

Ms Forster added: "We enjoy seeing the yellow-shirted brigade marching through Trowse, they are always so courteous and jolly.

"They really add to the vibrancy of the village as people often park, then meet up for a beer or a meal.

"Five years ago a previous group of parish councillors asked about this and now the county council is trying to do something based on that even though we don't have a problem with it."

A county council spokeswoman said: “These plans have been proposed by and developed with the local community to tackle commuter and football parking issues in the village.

"A statutory consultation is currently under way and people are able to view the plans and make any objections or comments online."

Mr Dimoglou and Ms Forster have urged people to email trowsepms@norfolk.gov.uk before the consultation ends on May 16 and have also posted a letter through village letterboxes.
