Members of a campaign group from Norfolk were among protesters arrested during the coronation of King Charles III over the weekend.
Protesters from Just Stop Oil were seen in handcuffs on the Mall as police cordoned off the group on Saturday (May 6).
The protest group, which demands the government halts all new oil and gas licenses, has since confirmed supporters from Norfolk were among those arrested in the capital over the weekend.
A spokesman said the Norfolk members were among dozens of Just Oil supporters who marched peacefully through central London in opposition to new anti-protest legislation and following the announcement of further record profits by oil companies.
Sam Johnson, 40, a construction worker from Norwich, was one of around 20 Just Stop Oil supporters arrested.
He said: "We are here today on behalf of our sons, daughters, nieces and nephews.
"We have been detained and arrested, purely for peacefully demonstrating.
"We are simply demanding the British government halt all new fossil fuel licences.
"This is the most basic, reasonable demand, upheld by the entirety of the world’s experts.”
Noah Crane, 18, from Buxton, near Aylsham, was also arrested.
He said: "The government has made it clear that their priority is to look after the wealthy and powerful, even if that means destroying everything.
"We cannot allow this. We have to demand, not ask, that they prioritise the wellbeing of everyone in the world over corporate profit.”
The arrests came after a group of republicans were also arrested on Saturday morning.
Footage shared on Twitter appeared to show Graham Smith, chief executive of the anti-monarchy group Republic, being apprehended by police in St Martin’s Lane, Westminster.
Pictures seemed to show demonstrators in yellow “Not My King” T-shirts, including Mr Smith, having their details taken by officers.
