Three friends have reopened their local drinking spot after its previous owners retired.

The King's Head, in Coltishall, has reopened under the new ownership of brothers Will, 40, and Sam Huetson, 38, and friend Dave Potter.

The trio, who are local to the area and regularly visited the pub, decided to take it on after conversations with friend, previous owner and chef Kevin Gardner, who wanted to retire and give up the popular village pub.

Sitting on the edge of the village green and alongside the River Bure, The King's Head was known for its high-quality food cooked by Mr Gardner, who ran the pub with his wife Sue.

There will be a continued focus on the food, with a gastro-pub theme, local produce and seasonal menus changing quarterly.

The three men are already in business together with Will and Sam Huetson running Bearingboys, a bearing and transmissions company, alongside fishing business Tackleboys with Mr Potter.

Sam Huetson, who saw in his first night as a publican when they reopened on Saturday night (May 6), said: "Kevin was keen for the pub to be taken over by locals who know the area and love the venue.

"We want to make it special and keep the reputation it has. We also want to update it and give it a lift and some new energy.

"This is the first pub any of us have run so it is a bit scary, but we know what the locals want. Seeing people laugh and be happy on the opening night was so nice.

"We want to make it the hub of the village and appeal to everyone - all ages, groups, children, dogs."

The pub has been refurbished throughout - redecorated with new furniture and finishings. The rooms will also be redecorated soon.
