Is there an even more fearsome creature at large in one corner of the region?
Police have been called out to reports of a big cat in Downham Market, including one incident in which a cyclist claimed to have been bitten by a puma.
In another incident, pack of dogs in the town were said to have been attacked by "a very large black cat".
The details have emerged in a Freedom of Information disclosure from Norfolk Constabulary.

The force had been asked to reveal details of recent big cat sightings.
It provided details for only two incidents, both in Downham.
The first was in January, when a "very large black cat, larger than a lynx" estimated at 1.2 metres tall was said to be attacking the pack of dogs.
Then, in September, a member of the public said they had been bitten by a puma or lynx while riding a bike in the town.

Another sighting last year, not reported to police, came in August when a large black cat was said to be roaming a field near Norwich.
In 2021, a couple in King's Lynn told The Mirror they were "terrified" after seeing what they believed to be a large panther-like creature roaming near their home.
