A passenger in a car has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash near Thetford.

The collision happened at about 7am today (April 28) on Thetford Road at the Rushford junction.

The road was closed and emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.

Two Norfolk Fire Service teams from Thetford and East Harling released the passenger using hydraulic rescue equipment and small gear.

A police spokeswoman has urged drivers to avoid the area.

There has been congestion between Thetford and Shadwell following the crash.

The injured person has been taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment.

The road had reopened by 11am.
