A 20-year-old is due to be sentenced for the attempted murder of a man in Norwich later this summer - almost two years to the day since the attack.
Michael Maylen, formerly of Music House Lane, Norwich, has previously pleaded guilty to the attack which happened on St Andrews Street, just after 5pm on June 13 2021.
The victim suffered serious head injuries after being kicked repeatedly and spent more than two months in hospital.
The case was mentioned at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday (April 25) in the absence of Maylen with June 9 set as the date for sentence.
The case has previously been adjourned in order for Maylen to be transferred to the Broadland clinic for a Section 38 assessment, or interim hospital order, under the Mental Health Act.
An interim hospital order allows the court to detain the defendant in hospital for assessment and treatment before he is sentenced.
