A Norfolk clothing brand is closing its city centre store 18 months after it was launched as a pop-up.

Blakely, which sells menswear, womenswear and accessories, was started in 2012 by Melton Constable man Gareth Newman.

The brand operated mainly online and in pop-ups before opening a store in Norwich a year and a half ago.

The London Street store was set to close this summer when it came to the end of its tenancy but this has been pushed forward due to the building being purchased by a new landlord.

Blakeley is opening a new store but sadly for its Norwich fans, it is in London.

The team are "very excited" for the launch of the new shop in Westfield Stratford which is due to open this summer.

Farron Davis, brand and design manager, said: "It feels like a natural progression for us.

"Our brand is evolving and getting bigger so this is really exciting.

"Westfield reached out to us and asked if we'd be interested in a shop.

"It will be a rolling contract but we are hoping it will be a permanent shop.

"We love the retail environment and how people can build in-person trust with the brand so this makes sense.

"And Stratford is a place of incredible footfall and hits all our demographics."

The brand is hoping to make a return to Norwich with a shop in the future but for the moment will be moving its branding, marketing and design teams to the city.

The rest of the team and the main office will remain in Melton Constable.

Miss Davis added: "We love the community and we want to get more involved.

"We recently did a beach clean in Cromer, we would love to do more like that - giving back personally."
