From a sex offender who targeted underage girls in the US to a veterinary nurse who stole tens of thousands of pounds, here are some of the criminals jailed in Norfolk last week.
Christopher Coe
Coe, of Mere Street in Diss, pocketed customer payments while working as a nurse and receptionist at two Norfolk vets, stealing tens of thousands of pounds.
Norwich Crown Court was told the 38-year-old - who set up an organisation called Pride Animal Rescue to take in unwanted pets - had previously been jailed for similar thefts while working for veterinary practices in Nottingham and London.
His latest offences came while working as a nurse for DNA Vetcare where he contacted customers telling them to pay outstanding invoices into his personal bank account.
The fraud had taken place over a long period with the vets estimating its losses at more than £26,000.
After being employed as a temporary locum receptionist at Glaven Vets in Holt in May 2019 he also began stealing payments, giving out fake receipts to customers who were later invoiced for non-payment.
Jailing him for 12 months Judge Anthony Bate said he had 13 previous convictions for 54 offences, the majority for dishonesty, and that he had made something of a “specialism” of defrauding vets.
Wayne Peckham and Riley Peckham
Wayne Peckham, 48, and his son Riley Peckham, 23, were both found guilty of the murder of Matthew Rodwell, 39, after they found him at the Downham Market home of Wayne's wife and Riley's mother Kerry.
Father-of-two Mr Rodwell, from Fincham, west Norfolk, had made a terrified 999 call while hiding in a wardrobe.
Wayne began "kicking, stamping and punching" Mr Rodwell who suffered more than 40 significant injuries as a result of the attack in January 2021.
He was pronounced dead at the house at Bulrush Avenue. A post-mortem examination revealed he died as a result of strangulation.
Judge Anthony Bate told him it had been a “brutal and sustained” attack that had not been spontaneous.
Wayne Packham was jailed for a minimum of 24 years while Riley Peckham received a minimum of 18 years.
Darren Humphries
The 57-year-old stole more than £10,000 from the account of an elderly relative with Alzheimer's.
Together with his wife, he was given power of attorney over her elderly aunt's affairs in 2014 when she went into a care home with dementia.
Norwich Crown Court heard he secretly used a bank card to make regular £50 to £250 withdrawals from the aunt’s account over many years, even after the couple split up.
Prosecutor Martin Ivory said his thefts were discovered when his by then former partner tried to use a cash machine in September 2019 and found the maximum daily amount had already been withdrawn.
A police investigation found he had helped himself to at least £10,000, though the total amount could be more as earlier withdrawals could not accurately be calculated by NatWest bank.
When arrested in March 2020, Humphries, of Newton Street in Newton St Faiths, initially told officers he did not still have a bank card for the account but a search discovered it was hidden in a drawer at his home.
He was jailed for 12 months.
Jack Brennan
Brennan, of Estcourt Road in Attleborough, forced American teenage girls to send him degrading images of themselves posing as his 'sex slaves'.
The 29-year-old groomed a 15-year-old and 13-year-old from Montana and Oregon who he befriended on Snapchat, encouraging them to send him naked photographs of themselves.
He then threatened to post the pictures in Facebook groups and send them to their parents unless they indulged his depraved fantasies.
Another was threatened with paedophiles being sent to the home of a six-year-old relative unless she continued to send ever more degrading videos and pictures.
Jailing him for a total of 10 years at Norwich Crown Court, Recorder John Hardy said he had forced them into a form of “sexual enslavement”.
Police were alerted by US Homeland Security after a victim’s boyfriend disclosed to local law enforcement offices that Brennan had contacted them.
Investigations into Brennan’s Snapchat account identified further victims.
More than 100 child sex videos and almost a thousand indecent photos of children were also found in a file on his phone after he was arrested in the UK.
At the time Brennan was already subject to sexual offending restrictions following a conviction for possession of indecent images of children in 2019.
