A county line drug dealer has admitted being armed with a hunting knife.

Yahya Habib, 25, was arrested in Great Yarmouth last August after police became suspicious about his activities in an alley known to be used by people peddling drugs.

Officers who searched him discovered wraps of cocaine prepared for street deals and a large knife with a 12 cm blade tucked into his waistband.

Habib, from Ilford in east London, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply both cocaine and diamorphine, a narcotic analgesic used as illicit street heroin.

He also admitted possession of a weapon.

Norwich Crown Court was told it had “all the hallmarks of a county lines drugs operation” and that he had “no legitimate reason” to otherwise be in Great Yarmouth.

Michael Clare, mitigating, said he had been told to sell by others higher up the supply chain in order to clear a debt run up through his own drug use.

Judge Andrew Shaw adjourned his sentence until May 12 to await further investigations into the extent of his involvement.
