A man has been jailed after assaulting a woman and punching another in the face.

David Rainey, 34, was sentenced to 15 months in prison following the domestic incident in Gorleston

Police were called to an address in the town just after 11pm on Friday, October 28, last year.

Officers found one woman at the address who had been assaulted and Rainey had also punched a neighbour in the face.

The attack resulted in her losing three front teeth and Rainey fled the scene before officers arrived.

Rainey was circulated as wanted and later arrested at an address in Lowestoft on November 10.

He was taken to Great Yarmouth police station where he was questioned.

He was subsequently charged and was remanded in custody pending his appearance at Norwich Crown Court.

Rainey, of no fixed abode, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday, April 11, where he pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm without intent, causing actual bodily harm and common assault.

He had previously pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Rainey was sentenced to 15 months for causing grievous bodily harm without intent, eight months for causing actual bodily harm and three months for common assault, both to be served concurrently.

The judge also granted a restraining order on conviction to prohibit contact with both victims for the next two years.

Sgt Steven Lee said: “This was a particularly brutal attack on both women and these kinds of incidents can have a long-lasting impact as well as the physical damage caused."
