A pub at the heart of a village community has closed its doors after becoming a favourite of the locals.

The King's Head in Blofield is closing down while it changes hands, and will reopen as a restaurant in the following months.

Manager Melanie Hoadley said: "It's with great sadness that we have to move on from the pub.

"We had started to create a real community hub, with old and young people from the village drinking here together.

"Since we took over the pub in November, it's been thriving. It's a lovely village and we're local ourselves.

"We've been delighting visitors with our weekly music nights, and we will still keep these going even without the King's Head venue."

Many other Norfolk watering holes have closed down this year, with The Green Dragon in Wymondham announcing its closure in February.

The King's Head closed for the final time on April 12 but Melanie and David hope to carry on their pub legacy and haven't given up on their dreams of owning a pub.
