Boaters were screaming for ice cream this week as a Norfolk Broads "icon" returned to the water with a fresh look.

The ice cream boat has been a mainstay of the Broads for many years and in August 2022 it was bought by Pam Robinson, 50, and renamed The Ice Float.

It was previously called Michelangelos and was run by Michael and Angie Pilgrim for three years.

Miss Robinson has spent the winter giving it a big revamp with bright pink paint and a giant ice cream at the front.

"I am originally from Yorkshire but have been coming to the Broads for holidays since I was a few months old and moved here 12 years ago," she said.

"I thought about buying the ice cream boat when it came up for sale before but didn't as I was just starting Broadland Charters.

"When it went up for sale in 2022 I bought it within 24 hours and it is great to have another string to my bow - it is an icon and everyone loves it."

She offers strawberry, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, with a weekly special and vegan option too, plus lollies, including ones for dogs, and treats from The Fudge Lady.

The Ice Float returned to the water on April 3 and will be there every sunny day of the season, with help from her 'Float Crew' Tina Standen and Sasha Jenner.

The locations will be posted on social media, with the main area south of Horning on the River Bure, Ant and Thurne and it takes cash or card.

Miss Robinson added: "Everyone was smiling and taking pictures of the boat this week and holidaymakers say they have never seen anything like it."
