Two thousand years ago, the Romans might have camped beside it.
Now plans have been proposed for a new campsite close to Norfolk's ancient Peddars Way.
A developer named in council papers as T Wright has applied for planning permission for a campsite north of the A149 at Holme, near Hunstanton.
A planning statement says: "The application site is situated at land north of the A149 in Holme-next-the-Sea, approximately 2.5 miles north-east of Hunstanton.

"The application site is within a largely rural setting with arable and pastoral fields to the west and south.
"The Peddars Way is also situated immediately adjacent to the application site."
Twenty-five pitches are proposed, which would open between May and September, along with portable toilets which would be removed out of season.
No dogs would be allowed on the site, which lies next to the junction of Beach Road.
Plans for a 50-pitch campsite on the same site, which was formerly an arable field, were withdrawn in 2021.
