Travelodge is looking to open seven new hotels in Norfolk, in a move which would create 170 jobs.
The hotelier is to write to more than 220 local authorities across the country as part of the multi-million pound investment.
The company already has three hotels in Norwich and branches in Acle, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Thetford.
Steve Bennett, Travelodge's chief property and development officer said: "We have written to local authorities to offer our support as we have a requirement to nearly double our Norfolk portfolio with a further seven Travelodge hotels across the region.

"Our research shows that Travelodge customers will spend at least double their room rate with local businesses during their stay - this can be an annual, multi-million pound boost into each local economy.”
Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Dereham, Diss, Hunstanton, Swaffham and Cromer or Fakenham are the proposed locations for the new hotels.
Work is currently under way on a new Travelodge hotel in Guildhall Hill and Dove Street in Norwich in the building above what used to be Tesco Express.
The firm hopes to have this hotel open by spring 2024.
