From spring markets to a steam gala, here are some of the best things to do in Norfolk in April 2023.
1. Norfolk Artisan Fair in Spring, Fakenham
Where: Fakenham Racecourse, NR21 7NY
When: April 1 and 2, 9.30am-4pm
Price: Adults: £5, under 16s: free, book at mjr-events.co.uk (£6 adults on the door)
The Norfolk Artisan Fair, which also runs at Christmas, returns for a spring extravaganza with around 100 local stallholders.
This will include food and drink and arts and crafts, with plenty of gift ideas for Easter.
2. Easter Trail, Norwich
Where: Chantry Place, St Stephens Street, Norwich, NR1 3SH
When: April 1 to 16
Price: Free
Head to Chantry Place shopping centre for a free Easter trail, with maps available from Langleys on the ground floor and there are prizes up for grabs.

The RSPB will also be there on April 4, 7, 8 and 13 for more free family fun inspired by nature.
3. Easter Craft and Food Market, Horsford
Where: The Little Norfolk Farm, Oaklands, Sandy Lane, Horsford, NR10 3FB
When: April 2, 11am-3pm
Price: Free
The Little Norfolk Farm, on the outskirts of Norwich, is holding its next market in April and there will be 56 stalls in total.
This will range from jewellery to sausage rolls, with street food from The Durban Grill and hot drinks from Baby Bean Coffee Co.
4. Spring Gift Fair, North Creake
Where: Creake Abbey, North Creake, Fakenham, NR21 9LF
When: April 8, 10am-4pm
Price: Free
Creake Abbey is located just a stone's throw from the ruins of an Augustinian Abbey and it is near Burnham Market.
There will be more than 70 stalls at the event, showcasing outstanding artists, craftspeople, retailers and food producers from across Norfolk and beyond.
5. Spring Steam Gala, Sheringham/Holt
Where: North Norfolk Railway - Sheringham Station, NR26 8RA/Holt Station, NR25 6QR
When: April 14-16, 9am-5pm
Price: £25-£60, buy at nnrailway.co.uk
This three-day event will be a celebration of steam and there will be two famous guest engines alongside a trio of its resident locomotives.

The special guests will be No. 34028 “Eddystone”, built in 1946 to work some of the Southern Railway’s most prestigious trains, and No. 401 “Vulcan” - a robust saddle tank locomotive that saw service at some of Britain’s largest industrial plants.
6. OLL ’23 Video Games Convention, New Costessey
Where: Norfolk Showground, Dereham Road, New Costessey, NR5 0TT
When: April 15: 10am-11pm (two sessions), April 16: 10am-6pm

One Life Left (OLL) is hosting a video game convention at the Norfolk Showground.
It will include tournaments, thousands of games across hundreds of consoles to play and stage shows with content creators and industry professionals.
7. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Where: Norwich Theatre Royal, Theatre Street, Norwich, NR2 1RL
When: April 19-29, £10-£65
Escape into a world of Pure Imagination as West End and Broadway hit Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is coming to Norwich Theatre Royal.
It is based on the Roald Dahl story and combines memorable songs from the original 1971 film and all new numbers.
Gareth Snook stars as Willy Wonka and his West End theatre credits include Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables and My Fair Lady.
