Broadland MP Jerome Mayhew has been reselected to defend his seat for the Conservatives in the next general election.

Mr Mayhew was picked by Broadland Conservative Association to battle for the seat he first won in 2019, when he succeeded Keith Simpson.

Mr Mayhew, who won with a 21,861 majority in that general election, said: "I'm delighted to have been reselected to stand as the Conservative candidate for Broadland at the next election.

"Over the last three years, I have tried to represent the interests of Broadland residents in Westminster, pushing for a new Queen Elizabeth Hospital, arguing for a dental training college at the UEA and persuading government to review the rules for wind farm cable connections.

"This is a job that I love and I am very grateful for the opportunity to contest the next election."

Mr Mayhew's fellow Tory, South Norfolk MP Richard Bacon is fighting a fight for his political future, after the South Norfolk Conservative Association signalled they did not want him to stand again.
