Temporary traffic lights are to go up on a major road near Norwich as part of survey works for a £251m project.

Norfolk County Council is to carry out the works on the A1067 and NDR roundabout, as well as on three minor roads between the villages of Weston Longville and Ringland.

The survey works, taking place between March 27 and March 31, will be conducted as part of the council’s Norwich Western Link project and involve excavating the highway and verges.

It comes as the council waits to see if the government will approve and bankroll the bulk of the cost of the £251m project.

A short section of one lane of the A1067, near the NDR roundabout, will be closed and two-way traffic lights will be in place from 8am on March 27 until 5pm on March 29.

From March 30 to March 31, the works will be centred on the roundabout that connects the NDR to the A1067 and short sections of the approaches.

This will also involve a single-lane closure from 8am on March 30 until 5pm on March 31.

The council has warned that delays are likely during the works and that there will be a certain amount of noise disturbance close to the site.

The Norwich Western Link is designed to link the A47 with the NDR to the west of the city and has been hailed as a council priority for several years.
