Electric car chargers could be installed at a seaside town hall.

Hunstanton Town Council is set to apply for funding for two devices under a Norfolk County Council scheme.

A report to councillors says they will be placed at the front of its building overlooking the resort's Green.

Drivers would park in spaces formerly earmarked for the town's tourist information centre to use them.

The county council has been given £1.1m by the government to increase the number of chargers.

It says funding will be aimed at rural tourist locations, such as coastal areas and those on the Norfolk Broads.

It adds village halls and community centres are used to host charging points because existing electricity connections make this more viable.

Typically 7kw chargers are used, which most premises can supply power to.

The county council says it may be able to offer host authorities "a small revenue share" from the income.

Hunstanton currently has around 10 public chargers sited at locations including the town's Tesco store, the car park on St Edmund's Terrace and Searles Leisure Resort.
