The case for funds to replace Norfolk's crumbling hospital to be included in next week's budget has been made face-to-face to chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
There has still been no official announcement regarding a replacement for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, which was expected to have been made by now.
South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss met Mr Hunt on Thursday afternoon to press the case for funding for an £862m rebuild.
She said afterwards: "I met Chancellor Jeremy Hunt ahead of the Budget, as part of my ongoing campaign with James Wild, urging him to fund a new hospital.
"The people of West Norfolk have waited long enough. It’s time for action."
North West Norfolk MP James Wild said: "Securing a new QEH is my top priority. This week I raised it in Parliament with the Health Secretary and met the Chancellor to press for the decision for QEH to be added to the new hospital programme as soon as possible."
Alice Webster, chief executive at the QEH, said: “At her visit to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital last week Liz Truss made us aware she was seeking a meeting with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to further press our case for a new hospital.
"We are grateful to her and everyone who has supported our case this far. We are continuing to work with the national new hospital programme team who are supporting us to find a long term solution.”
Senior managers have expressed their frustration over the lack of news - despite preparing an "investment-ready" case for a new hospital on what is currently the QEH's main car park.

The hospital, on Gayton Road, opened in 1980. It is still in use more than 10 years after its expected lifespan of 30 years.
