An RSPCA branch in Norfolk is among many still being inundated with people having to give up their pets amid the cost of living crisis.

The RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk branch had its busiest year ever in 2022 after rehoming 627 animals – a 50pc increase on 2021.

It also donated more than five tonnes of pet food to food banks and helped 391 people with vet bills.

The RSPCA branch in West Norfolk was another which found its waiting list getting "progressively worse" with more and more people needing to give up their pets.

Greg Brown, CEO of the RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk branch, added: "Many people do not realise we are a separate, independent branch and a local charity in Norfolk.

"We're a passionate team that works very hard to achieve amazing results despite limited resources."
