For a small city, Norwich has lots going on when it comes to live music.

From the Walnut Tree Shades to the Reindeer, here are seven pubs where you can see some of the city's up-and-coming acts.

1. The Brickmakers

Where: Sprowston Road, Norwich, NR3 4DY

The Brickmakers has been a hub for music fans in the city for many years and has a dedicated venue connected to the pub.

There were fears this could stop after the previous landlords announce they would not renew their lease but fortunately, it was taken over by the Walnut Tree Shades landlords who promised to keep the place rocking. 

It has live bands playing regularly on most nights with a wide variety of genres to enjoy.

2. Last Pub Standing

Where: King Street, Norwich, NR1 1PD

This King Street pub is quickly becoming one of the best destinations for live music in the city.

Bands play on a stage in the heated back garden with plenty of room for throwing your best shapes.

There are regular free nights at the weekend where you can see some of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in the city.

3. The Reindeer

Where: Dereham Road, Norwich NR2 4AY

If you are a fan of blues, rock and country then The Reindeer is a great place to visit for some live music.

The pub always has a busy schedule of artists and on the first and third Thursday of each month, there is a popular open mic night.

4. Louis Marchesi

Where: Tombland, Norwich, NR3 1HR

This Tombland pub has a wide range of music on offer, including the long-running Lights Out.

Held in the pub's medieval crypt, the Monday event brings together some of the finest acoustic acts in the county for unplugged performances in an intimate setting.

On other nights, it is a louder affair with a wide range of bands strutting their stuff on stage.

5. Walnut Tree Shades

Where: Old Post Office Court, Norwich, NR2 1NG

The Walnut Tree Shades has live music every week in its small venue.

Every Thursday, classical guitarist Peter Turrell hosts a busy open mic night - get there early to book your slot.

6. Rumsey Wells

Where:  St Andrews Street, Norwich, NR2 4AF

The Rumsey Wells often has DJs spinning records to get people's feet moving at the weekend.

Every so often, it will also have live music in its cellar bar or you can also catch folk groups playing upstairs.

7. Pogue Mahons

Where: Prince of Wales Road, Norwich, NR1 1LT

This Irish-themed pub and bar host regular music nights, putting on bands and solo acts several nights a week.
