Mood-boosting miniature donkeys hope to keep improving people's wellbeing for years to come after receiving new funding.

The south Norfolk social enterprise has got a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund which will allow it to continue its work across the county and in Suffolk.

Managing director of MiniDonks, Sarah McPherson, set it up in 2017 after witnessing the impact her two miniature donkeys had on her mum's wellbeing while she battled dementia.

She said: “Spending time with animals brings genuine therapeutic benefits and moments of pure joy to people living with complex disabilities and conditions such as dementia, even those people who are largely considered to be ‘locked-in’.

"It’s our mission to bring a touch of Minidonks magic to as many people and communities as possible.”

The group has received a £286,848 grant split over a five-year period which will support running costs and also allow it to purchase a new five-seater lorry to help get to events across the two counties.
