A furniture and gift shop near Norwich is closing after being open for almost 30 years.

Country Corner in Taverham Garden Centre was opened in the 1990s by John Stagg from Mattishall.

His son and the current owner, Justin, has made the difficult decision to close at the end of March.

Justin Stagg, 49, said: "Buying local was important to my dad, he only wanted to sell pieces made by English manufacturers.

"But people just don't buy English anymore, it's expensive.

"And I'm not dealing with or even able to speak to makers directly.

"The lease was up for renewal and I decided that it was time.

"The fun has just gone out of it."

Justin took over the store, which closes on March 31, after his dad John died in 2012.

He added: "He filled it with exactly what he wanted to buy, finding unique things that he liked and others clearly did too.

"And he made so many friends. People would come in once a month just to speak to him."

Country Corner is open as usual until the closure.
