The "proud" grandfather has been remembered by his family at an inquest into his death.
David Brett, of Hingham, died on September 4 last year when his body was found in the back of his car alongside the Hingham Road in Great Ellingham. He was 48.
At an inquest into his death, his daughter Clarice paid tribute to him on behalf of his family.
She said: "He was a proud man and never really wanted to admit he was struggling.
"All his family tried to help him but he would always say he was okay and always tried to put a smile on his face for us.
"He had the biggest heart and would do everything to help anybody who needed it rather than fighting his own demons."
The inquest heard Mr Brett had a history of mental health struggles for which he was receiving counselling.
Assistant coroner Johanna Thompson concluded that his death was suicide.
