Two Norfolk buildings have been shortlisted for the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awards.

Coast House and Duke Street Riverside by Hudson Architects are included in the list of 14 projects compiled for the RIBA East awards.

Coast House is an award-winning home in Glaven Valley, north Norfolk. Hudson Architects designed the house to have "dramatically high ceilings" and "clerestory windows that flood the space with light".

Duke Street Riverside is a development for Norwich University of the Arts. The building offers both a teaching space and accommodation for students at the University. The architect agency took the "challenges of its Riverside location" and made use of this to create "a new sunny public plaza".

Both projects were designed with a sustainability principle and this was a key area of judging.

Thomas Miller, from RIBA East, said: "The shortlisted projects tackled a broad range of challenges - a complex design brief, difficult context, high client aspirations, or the ever-present drive to respond to the climate emergency."

The 14 projects will be assessed by a regional jury before the winning projects are announced this spring.
