A fish and chip truck with a twist which has people visiting from all over the country has reopened.

Elliot's Fish and Chips in Hunstanton has refurbished its food truck to become “the frying vegan” and has added more plant-based items to its menu.

Elliot Snart, originally from Peterborough, runs the truck as a full-time business alongside his partner.

He took over the firm from his dad who is from Hunstanton and now almost 40pc of the food he sells is vegan.

The 31-year-old said: "People travel from everywhere, we've had people from London and from places all over the country.

“Last year we had people queuing down the block to try our fish and chips.

"We've added two extra frying pans with vegan frying oil to keep up with the demand, now almost 40pc of what we sell is vegan".

The plant-based items include no-fish fillet, vegan no fish n' chips and vegan scampi – with the most popular dish being a no-sausage and chips.

All the vegan products are cooked in rapeseed oil and rice flake is used as the fish substitute.

The fish used on the traditional menu is sustainably caught and Mr Snart is using bio-degradable packaging as he takes steps to become a net-zero business.

Mr Snart is hoping to open a permanent fish and chip shop in Hunstanton later this year and is also looking into including gluten-free options on the menu.

The food truck, at Unit 12 in the Central Promenade, has been closed over winter but will be open from 11.30am until 7.30 pm throughout the half-term break.

It will then be opening on a more permanent basis from April until October this year.
