Crocus Homes host consultation for Swaffham development

Bidwells, acting on behalf of Norfolk housing developer Crocus Homes, held a meeting at Swaffham Assembly Rooms on February 8 to showcase the proposal for the development at Sporle Road in the town. 

Town council members and locals had the chance to find out more about the proposed estate, which would include 150 homes with two, three or four bedrooms and would include 60 affordable homes.

The land was acquired by Crocus in October 2022, and a planning application is expected to be submitted over the next few weeks.

Matt Davidson, managing director of Crocus, said: “We are delighted to showcase plans for our latest development, which will bring more of the highest quality new homes to the area, including affordable housing that exceeds planning policy requirements. 

“While Crocus has already undertaken considerable due diligence on the site itself and the local infrastructure, it is always important for us to carry out these public consultations as an opportunity to engage further with the local community, to listen to their views and have the opportunity to present our ideas.

“Whilst some local residents have expressed concerns about issues such as traffic and local services, of which we are aware and we will continue to work alongside the public and stakeholders to address, we also received some very positive comments. 

“People liked the connectivity between the site and the existing open spaces and the proximity to the town centre. 

"Many people were pleased that 40pc of the development would comprise affordable housing and commented on the lack of density in the layout of the site, which includes plenty of green space.”

Earlier this week, Crocus submitted plans to build 200 homes in Acle.
