A man was caught with almost £7,000 worth of Class A drugs hidden in a knee brace after he travelled to Norwich from London by train, a court has heard.
Tito Arthur, 50, was detained at Norwich Railway Station after officers received a tip-off.
Norwich Crown Court heard Arthur was found to have crack cocaine and heroin with a street value of £6,768 concealed within a knee brace that he had been wearing on the rail journey from London to Norwich on December 7 last year.
Police attended the railway station at about 12.45pm and detained Arthur under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act before finding the drugs during a search.
Arthur, a class A drugs addict, had travelled to London from Norwich to "reload" with drugs before coming back to the city to supply other addicts, including himself.
Danielle O'Donovan, prosecuting, said the drugs found on Arthur included 39g of cocaine and 14g of heroin.
Arthur, formerly of Polypin Yard, Norwich, appeared at court on Monday (February 6) for sentence having previously admitted two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
Jailing Arthur for three years, Judge Anthony Bate said the defendant had an "entrenched addiction to hard drugs".
John Morgans, mitigating, said Arthur, who admitted the offences, had been addicted to drugs all his adult life.
But he said it was the "first time he's ever become involved in supplying class A drugs".
Mr Morgans said Arthur was "ashamed he'd got himself into this position".
He said as a former addict he "knows better than anyone else the misery that comes with class A drug addiction".
