From pizza to fish and chips, these Norfolk pubs and restaurants are in the running for national awards and accolades in 2023.

Norfolk eateries are bound to be shortlisted for more prizes as the year progresses, including the British Curry Awards and Great British Pub Awards in the autumn.

The Great Sausage Roll Off 2023

Winner revealed: February 8 

Ben Handley, who runs The Duck Inn in Stanhoe with his wife Sarah, is taking part in this prestigious sausage roll competition at The Red Lion in Barnes, London.

He is hoping to follow in the footsteps of the 2017 winner and fellow Norfolk chef Charlie Hodson and to build on recent success after the gastropub was named one of the top 50 in the UK.

The National Fish and Chip Awards 2023

Winner revealed: February 28 

Eric's Fish and Chips in Thornham, run by chef Eric Snaith, and Henry's of Hunstanton are both among the five finalists in the restaurant category at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023. 

The ceremony will take place in London and will be hosted by comedian Jason Manford.

The Michelin Gude 2023

When announced: March 27

The launch ceremony for the next edition of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland will be announced in March at a ceremony in Northamptonshire.

This is when all the new Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmands and Green Stars will be unveiled.

One newcomer we know will be in the 2023 list is The Dial House in Reepham as it featured in an online article of the latest additions.

Pizza World Championships 2023 

Competition dates: April 18-20 

Danny Child, the owner of The Pizza Slice Guy takeaway and restaurant in King's Lynn, is heading to Italy in April to compete in the largest pizza show in the world.

There will be thousands of chefs competing in 12 different categories and Mr Child specialises in American-style pizzas.
