A Great Yarmouth woman has been awarded a top life-saving honour after helping to bring a man back "from the brink of death".

Jodie Lee was walking to work along the seafront on the morning of August 7 when she found John Windham who had suffered a heart attack while out running.

He was lying on the path and had stopped breathing so Ms Lee immediately called the emergency services and began administering CPR.

She continued performing CPR for 10 minutes until medics arrived at the scene and took over.

Ms Lee has since been awarded a Royal Humane Society Resuscitation Certificate.

The award has been made on the recommendation of East Anglia Air Ambulance which said: "We were able to resuscitate the man at the scene thanks only to Jodie’s brave and rapid action, of performing 10 minutes of very effective CPR in the blazing sun."

Ms Lee has also won the personal praise of Andrew Chapman, Secretary of the Royal Humane Society.

He said: "If ever there was a case of someone being in the right place at the right time this was it.

"Jodie was there almost immediately after the man collapsed, kept calm and after calling the emergency services started administering CPR.

"She did a wonderful job and undoubtedly played a major role in bringing the man back from the brink of death."
