The departure of the £156,000-a-year chief executive of Norwich City Council has been confirmed, after the authority he is quitting to join ratified his appointment.
Stephen Evans recently announced his intention to leave City Hall after three years in the council's top job.
He is leaving for a similar role at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council, where members of the Berkshire council unanimously appointed as their new chief executive last week.
Mr Evans said: "I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to be the next chief executive of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead – my home borough.
"I was born and brought up in the royal borough and have benefitted from the opportunities it has given me.
"The opportunity to work for your home borough only comes up once or twice during your career and I felt I had to grasp it."
The announcement comes after Norwich City Council's Labour leader Alan Waters and his deputy Gail Harris announced they would be standing down at the May elections.
Very proud to have been given the opportunity to help shape the future of the Borough where I was born and brought up. Lots to do in Norwich before I go. https://t.co/6TFqRIPsxB
