A 49-year-old man who died in a collision on a rural road was named as an inquest was opened into his death.

Lee Gray was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the A1075 Dereham Road at Shipdham on Friday, January 13.

He was driving a grey Ford Focus, which was involved in a collision with a black Kia Rio at 8.35pm.

Opening the inquest coroner for Norfolk Jacqueline Lake said Mr Gray, who lived in Shipdham, died of chest and skull injuries. The inquest was adjourned until July 19.

One person from the Kia was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening after the collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses. The crash was one of three fatal incidents which happened over a single weekend on Norfolk's roads.

Three people were killed in a crash between a BMW and a Vauxhall SUV between Middleton and King's Lynn on the night of Sunday, January 15.

In the early hours of the same day, the 35-year-old driver of an Audi S4 died when he collided with a tree near the Elme Hall roundabout on the A47 at Wisbech.
