1. The Bowling Green

Said to be the oldest pub in Wells, the Bowling Green claims to offer traditional home-cooked cuisine in a relaxed and comfortable pub setting as well as a selection of local ales and wines from around the world.

2. The Red Lion, Bishopgate

Sunday lunch is served from midday to 7pm and the sample menu includes roast sirloin of beef and pressed pork belly.

3. Kings Arms Fleggburgh

6. The Temple Bar

The roasts at this Irish pub are described by many locals as the best in the city and come with succulent meats, with a vegan option too, served with seasonal vegetables, a giant Yorkshire pudding and a generous helping of cauliflower cheese. 

Temple Bar tends to get very busy on a Sunday so people are urged to book ahead to avoid missing out.

7. Blues NR3 at The Rosebery

9. The Fleece Inn
