A plant shop and café in NR3 has launched a late-night pizza menu as it continues to adapt amid a difficult time for many small businesses.

Leslie Terrance, in Magdalen Street, started opening in the evening several months ago but with a small kitchen, the team couldn’t offer the food people wanted.

But after spotting a pizza oven for sale on Facebook Marketplace, a menu including spicy meat feast and vegetarian pizzas was launched on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Owner Kerri Notman, 31, said: "We wanted to be a space for people to come in the evening which wasn't a pub. Somewhere to chill out which is peaceful and it is going really well.

"We have gone into the year nervous, thinking this could be our last year but people are spending, especially on food and drink.

"This is our tenth year of the business and we are just adapting to the times, keeping smiling and keeping going.

"If you keep positive, people will follow. I think people still want to do things as we are seeing more people meeting up.

"We are so grateful for anyone coming in, you don't have to spend loads - one coffee makes a massive difference."

All the pizzas are made fresh with homemade dough and the café works hard to create no waste.

There are also different offers every night on either plants or food.

The Leslie Terrance café is open from 8.30am to 9pm, with pizzas served from 4pm on Thursday and Friday.
