Belton: L&H Fish and Chips gets new base at King's Head pub

L&H Fish and Chips has upgraded its base outside of the King's Head in Belton.

Its owners are now frying up a storm with all new equipment inside a shipping container that has been converted into a fully functioning kitchen.

The chippy is run by Rob Lovett and his family - who also own the pub.

The revamp to the chippy business comes after they started operating a mobile unit from the pub's car park during the coronavirus pandemic.

And it has been so successful they decided to build a bigger and better base.

Mr Lovett said: "The response from the village and surrounding areas has been amazing, hence why we have put in a more permanent fixture here.

"We bought it as an empty shipping container and slowly built it. It was a big investment, but it was definitely worth it.

"We are really pleased with how it has turned out."

The menu includes all of the favourites with locally sourced fish, freshly cut chips and everything is fried in traditional beef dripping.

The family previously ran their fish and chip business at Great Yarmouth Market but stopped during the pandemic.

L&H Fish and Ship is open outside of the pub, in St Johns Road, Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm until 8pm.

From March 1, it will be open from Wednesday to Saturday.

Mr Lovett - who runs the businesses with his wife Shelley and their daughters Jodie Lovett and Connie Hodges - added: "We have a really good following.

"Now we are in our new base we are really looking forward to the summer and people coming to see us who haven't been before.

"We want to say thanks to all of our loyal customers for their continued support."  

The Lovett family took on The King's Head in Belton in May 2021 and turned its pool room into Valerie's Tea Room - named after their mother and grandmother who passed away.
