Established 40 years ago, SSAF Window Films started its journey installing specialist glass protection during a time when the IRA were bombing English cities. Its window films minimised flying glass from bomb blasts, while maximising bullet resistance and security to shops and offices.
The family-run business based in Martham created the first ‘100-micron’ blast film, approved by the British Ministry of Defence. It is used worldwide by multinational corporations, major military and nuclear bases, and is even installed in houses facing on to cricket pitches!
Later, SSAF Window Films began to design, produce and install bespoke signs and graphics to customer specification, including decorative and patterned design films, signage and manifestations, digital printing, vehicle graphics and vinyl wrapping, full-colour indoor and outdoor banners, feather flags, pavement signs, wall art, window and floor graphics, labels, site boards, site safety signage, facia signage, acrylic signs and lightboxes.
Today, SSAF Window Films is renowned for its person-centered approach and aims to continue this into 2023 as customer satisfaction remains at the forefront of the company’s ethos.

SSAF Window Films is set to expand in 2023 with a revamp and expansion of its embroidery and printing machinery. The company is also keen to get on board with the government’s net-zero strategy and proposals to decarbonise all sectors by 2050.
To this end, SSAF Window Films has recently established itself as a one-stop shop for businesses offering a multitude of services to businesses under one roof – from lanyards, personal protective equipment (PPE), embroidered and printed uniform and workwear to signs, manifestations, printing and a range of stationery. With so many vital business requirements under one roof, SSAF Window Films can effectively reduce its carbon footprint.
Another method for achieving its green credentials is the launch of an energy-saving product.
The All Seasons Amber 35 (Low-E) window film has a special coating designed to reflect heat back into rooms. It can also reflect the sun externally, keeping houses cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This will save energy at home, while lowering bills and reducing carbon emissions.
Robert says: “We wanted to introduce this product at a time when we are all trying to desperately save money and find ways of keeping the house warmer. With energy bills soaring and the majority of people feeling the impact of the cost-of-living crisis, we wanted to bring people’s attention to a product they can install to help reduce heat loss – keeping your house warmer and therefore saving on energy bills at a crucial time.
“Environmentally, increased efficiency can lower greenhouse gas emissions, even in smaller doses,” Robert adds. “At SSAF Window Films, we believe we can all do our bit in helping the environment.”
The team is pleased to hear that customers are already using their heating less because of the innovative new product.
Customer Joanne of Thorpe St. Andrew recently had the All Seasons Amber (Low E) window film fitted to two large French doors and four Velux windows. She said: “I have already seen a significant improvement to the draft that used to enter the kitchen and dining area. I have been able to turn my heating down a couple of degrees and not only that have my heating on for shorter periods of time.”
