Owners of a long-standing pub in north Norfolk are fearing for its future as they battle high energy costs.
The Banningham Crown has closed its doors on a Monday and a Tuesday to combat rising costs by saving on wages and energy.
After the pub's November energy bill totalled £3,500 for electricity alone, owner Jeanette Feneron says the next bill is a "massive worry", as they have not been told their total cost for December since submitting meter readings.
Mrs Feneron, 65, has owned the Banningham Crown with her husband Mark Feneron for 32 years and this is the first time they have had to take drastic measures.
After a really good December, the couple fears the effects the quiet January will have on the pub during the post-Christmas lull.
She said: "We are very unknown of our energy costs as we do not know the amount of our bill for December. This means we don't know what difference the government's help will make.
"It is a massive worry as it could be double the cost of the last month, if not more - it could be dire.
"We have put the measures in the hope we make it through to Easter. It really is as serious as the survival of the business.
"We have a good, loyal customer base who are booking for Wednesday onwards to support us, which is great."
The pub is trying other ways to help save money, such as a Burns Night event and the consideration of a two-course set-cost menu.
The pub will have shorter hours during the week but remain open all day Friday to Sunday.
