New late night bus services will be introduced on two routes in Norfolk this week.

The timetable for two KonectBus services will see more evening buses running for residents of Thorpe St Andrew, Thorpe End, Rackheath, Salhouse, Wroxham and Watton.

Services benefiting from the changes are the 5b and the 11a - both operated by KonectBus.

The 5b service which runs between Wroxham and Norwich now has a last bus departing Norwich at 9.45pm, two hours and thirty-five minutes later than its previous last bus.

Route 5b coming into Norwich will have an additional two services at 7.50pm and 10.35pm. Its previous last bus was at 6.50pm.

The 11a service which operates between Dereham and Watton has an additional 10.00pm journey and will connect from the 9.20pm service from Norwich.

These are two of a number of service enhancements that are being funded by the £49.55m that Norfolk County Council was successful in securing from the Department for Transport (DfT).

About £12m of the funding has been allocated to expanding bus routes, as well as increasing frequencies on key routes, including more evening and weekend services.

The extension follows a government scheme introduced earlier in the month to cap fares at £2 for any single journey between January and March.

In a statement from Norfolk County Council, Graham Plant, said: "Providing later services is something many residents asked for when we developed our bus service improvement plan – so to see these services starting is a great achievement for everyone involved.

"Having buses run into the evening means people can choose the bus more often when making plans and leave the car at home – which is key to us achieving our net-zero ambitions."
