While several families across Norfolk received an extra special gift this Christmas by welcoming a new baby, one couple had cause to celebrate twice – with the arrival of twins.
Hannah Rix and her partner Chris Pullen, of Bradwell, near Great Yarmouth, welcomed their newborns, Elsie and Henry, at the James Paget Hospital on December 25.
Despite being due next year on January 6, little Elsie could wait no longer and Miss Rix, a first-time mother, was induced at 38 weeks on Christmas Eve.
Elsie arrived at the Gorleston-based maternity unit two minutes ahead of her little brother at 2.37am weighing 6lbs and 10oz, while Henry came at 2.39am weighing 7lbs.
Miss Rix, 27, said: “To be honest, I was thinking we might have Christmas Eve babies, but we soon realised they would be here for Christmas Day.

“I didn’t really have much time to think about it as there was a lot happening, but the staff were lovely. They were just so supportive, happy, and excited.
“We didn’t get the twins any presents, but I did give them the gift of life, so that will do for this year! We got them into their little matching 'My First Christmas' onesie outfits though.”
The twins were born via caesarean section and were among the first births of the day, as well as being potentially the only twins born in the county on December 25.
Miss Rix explained that things had “definitely been busy” since their arrival and that her partner, 40, was taking on much of the domestic tasks while she healed from major surgery.
“It’s especially busy when they both want something at the same time but generally, they’ve been okay,” she added.
“Naturally, we are both finding our feet and establishing a routine together as a family.
“The twins’ appetites have picked up and they are doing really well. Now we just need them to let us sleep a bit more. Chris and I are a bit of a tag-team at the moment.”
