A school in Norfolk for children with language and communication difficulties has applied for planning permission to build a new games area and classrooms.
Aurora Eccles School, near Attleborough, has applied for permission to demolish two existing classroom and office buildings and replace them with a new classroom block.
A statement submitted as part of the application reads: “The existing buildings to be demolished are of thermally and aesthetically poor quality, so would benefit from being removed rather than renovated.”
The proposed ‘multi-use games area’ would be the second one at the school and would consist of an asphalt or similar hardstanding ground surface, with a metal mesh railing enclosure approximately 3m high.
Quidenham Parish Council - which has no decision-making powers on planning but is asked to offer a view - said it had no objections to the project.
Breckland Council is due to issue a decision on the scheme by January 20.
A separate application has suggested replacing an existing storage block with a new classroom building too.
The plans can be viewed by searching for planning reference 3PL/2022/1334/F at breckland.gov.uk/planning/search.
