A Norwich firm is starting a new chapter after coming under new ownership through a management buyout.

Indigo Swan's managing director James Groves has become a majority shareholder in the business following the deal and said the company is heading "into the next step of our journey".

Three directors at the company - Aimee Konieczny, Andy Kindleysides and Hayley Leech - have also bought stakes.

The deal sees Emily Groves, who set up the business in 2009 and is Mr Groves' cousin, sell her share of the firm.

Ms Groves had already taken a step back from a hands-on role in 2019.

This move saw Mr Groves promoted to managing director and taking over the day-to-day running of the business.

Under his leadership, Indigo Swan successfully navigated the pandemic and the current energy crisis.

Over the years the company has achieved national recognition, most recently being awarded the Most Trusted Energy Consultancy (SME) at the 2022 Energy Live Consultancy Awards (TELCA).

It has also won several accolades at the Norfolk Business Awards including being a two-time SME Business of the Year.

Commenting on the buyout, Mr Groves said: “Indigo Swan is more than just a business to me - it is my family.

"I am grateful to Emily for the opportunity she gave me 13 years ago to join the team and for the trust she put in me to become commercial director and then managing director in early 2019.

"The business has always put people and happiness first and under the new ownership this will continue to be the case."

He added: "Moving forward I am so grateful to and proud of my management buyout team of Aimee, Andy and Hayley.

"They look out for me, the Swans, our clients, suppliers and represent our business nationally and within the local community amazingly.

"I am lucky to have them on this journey with me and the growth we have seen over the last three years, while at times challenging, gives me the confidence, that this is just the start of even greater things for Indigo Swan, as we head into the next step of our journey; Indigo Swan 2.0.”
