Swap festive TV and stuffing your face with chocolate for a dip in the North Sea at these charity Christmas swims in Norfolk and Waveney.

Even if you don't fancy braving the cold water, you can still wrap up and support from the shore.

Make sure to read up on all the rules for the respective swims before taking part and they may be cancelled at short notice due to weather conditions.

These are the confirmed events for 2022:

1. Hunstanton

This west Norfolk Christmas swim is organised by the Hunstanton and District Round Table, with sponsorship forms available to download now through its Facebook page.

The chosen 2022 charity is Caring Together, providing young carers with trips out, breaks and treats, and a JustGiving page has also been set up.

Registration is between 10am and 10.30am at Alive Oasis leisure centre, with the judging of the fancy dress competition at 10.50am.

Then at 11am is the parade of swimmers along the promenade out towards the start point.

Afterwards, there will be free soup for swimmers outside the Marine Bar and a warm shower at the leisure centre, with certificates given out from the reception from 11.30am.

2. Lowestoft

Just across the border into Waveney, The Everyone Active 2022 Lowestoft Christmas Day swim is one of the biggest in the region.

It was last held in 2019 and attracted crowds of around 3,000 people, with more than 400 swimmers.

Registration and changing will be at the East Point Pavilion from around 8.30am, with the swim at 10am sharp.

Swimmer applications are available online now on the Everyone Active website and in person from Waterlane Leisure Centre.

A minimum £5 donation is required and the money raised will go to the James Paget Charity Trust and other local charities.
