A Norfolk charity that supports third-party victims of crime has won the backing of MPs after sharing stories of the devastation sexual and violent crimes have on families.

While help is offered to primary victims of crime, their loved ones are often left to deal with the aftermath without support.

Restitute, which was set up by Cath Pickles after her own experiences with a daughter who was the victim of sexual abuse, visited parliament to highlight its work in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Amongst those to back the charity was Norwich South MP Clive Lewis who praised its “life-changing support for third-party victims of crime - those people who care for survivors of sexual or violent crime, who are too often forgotten”.

Labour MP Jess Philips also met the charity and plans to work more to “champion the needs of third-party victims of crime”.
