A police officer caught the moment a drunk driver who hit and killed a pedestrian was arrested.
Malcolm Waite, 68, veered off the A149 near Stalham, mounting the pavement and hitting a 16-year-old girl and Fenella Hawes.
Despite attempts to save her life, the 20-year-old student from Stalham died at the scene.
The teenager escaped with minor injuries following the crash on July 31.
Waite failed to stop at the scene, driving along the A149 for another mile before crashing into a road sign.
Body camera footage from PC Callum Walchester's arrest of Malcolm Waite has been released following the sentencing.
The video shows Waite sitting in his car ranting at PC Walchester, asking why the officer was calling him and refusing to provide a breath sample.
PC Walchester said: “I’ve been a PC for 10 years and worked in roads policing for almost six years, and he was the drunkest person I have ever seen behind the wheel of a car.”
After his arrest, police calculated Waite as having approximately 158 micrograms of alcohol in his breath at the roadside. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Waite, of Meadow Drive, Hoveton, was jailed today (November 18) for eight years and banned from driving for 11 years after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.
