Norwich's Christmas lights switch-on spectacularly returned to the city last night as thousands battled the wind and rain to enjoy some festive cheer.

Families wrapped up warm for the return of the popular event which had not happened since 2019 because of the Covid pandemic.

The main lights switch-on took place outside City Hall with Britain’s Got Talent singer Linda John-Pierre performing the task.

John-Pierre, who is appearing as Fairy Fullobeans in the Norwich Theatre Royal panto, also sang to the crowds along St Peters Street.

Children were left beaming as they enjoyed the festivities and caught a glimpse of Santa Claus.
