Norwich Christmas lights switch-on returns for 2022

Families were seen kicking off the festive season throughout the city at the long-awaited event, which has not been held for the last two years because of the pandemic.

The main light switch-on took place outside City Hall with Britain’s Got Talent singer Linda John-Pierre performing the task.

John-Pierre, who is appearing as Fairy Fullobeans at the Theatre Royal panto, also sang to the crowds along St Peters Street.

There were plenty of smiles from boys and girls hoping to have made it on to the good list as Father Christmas made an appearance. 

And performances from Luminous ballerinas, Framtastics Gymnastics and local band Austin Beats entertained the crowds. 

Elsewhere, on Gentleman’s Walk families enjoyed the fairground rides.

In Norwich Market, people warmed themselves up with a bite to eat and drink.  

And adding to the festive magic was the city’s popular Tunnel of Light.
